PERSONAL PROSE:

A native of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Dr. LeKita V. Scott is a founding member and Financial Secretary for the Sisters of the Academy Institute. She is also co-editor of Journey to the Ph.D.: How to Navigate the Process as African Americans.

Dr. Scott currently serves as the Director of Development and Proposal Writer at Claflin University in Orangeburg, SC.

Among her accolades and awards are the 2002 H.S. Warwick Research Award in Alumni Relations for Educational Advancement from the Council for Advancement and Support to Education for her doctoral dissertation entitled “A Description of Successful Fund-Raising Units at Public Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs)” and SOTA’s Outstanding Sister Award for her dedication and leadership to this organization.
